There's a moment at Creed that regulars know well. The lights dim slightly, the playlist slips into something slower, and a member of staff appears with a tray — fresh coals, gleaming glassware, and a flavour you may or may not have tried before. That moment isn't luck. It's craft.

We talk a lot about the vibe here — the low leather seating, the amber lighting, the murmur of proper conversation. But underneath all of that sits a genuine discipline. Shisha, done properly, is closer to wine service than most people realise. And we thought it was about time we pulled back the curtain.

It Starts With the Coal, Not the Flavour

Ask any of our hookah team what matters most and they'll say the same thing: heat management. Get the coal wrong and even the most premium tobacco tastes harsh or — worse — completely flat.

We use natural coconut coals, lit properly on a dedicated burner rather than rushed with quick-light shortcuts. They take longer to prepare, yes, but they burn cleaner, last longer, and let the flavour actually breathe. From there it's a dance: rotating coals, adjusting placement on the foil or HMD (heat management device, for the uninitiated), and reading the smoke. Thick and smooth? You're in the sweet spot. Thin and warm? Time to move things around.

It sounds fussy. It is fussy. That's rather the point.

Flavour, Treated Like a Wine List

Our flavour menu isn't a laminated list of whatever came in the delivery. It's curated, seasonal, and — we'll admit it — a bit opinionated.

New to shisha? Start gentle. Mint is the classic for a reason: clean, cooling, impossible to get wrong. Double apple is the old-school heavyweight that built the tradition, sweet and slightly aniseed. If you want something fruitier, our watermelon-mint blend is a house favourite on warm evenings when the terrace doors are open.

For the connoisseurs, we lean into layered builds — dessert-inspired mixes like vanilla, custard and caramel tones, or bolder tobacco-forward blends with a buzz profile you can actually feel. Staff will happily talk you through nicotine strength, wash versus unwashed leaf, and what pairs well with what you've ordered from the kitchen. Which brings us neatly along.

The Supporting Cast: Ice, Glass and Seating

A great session is a full-body experience, and the details carry it.

The base of every hookah is filled with cold water — and for certain flavours, we add ice or chilled milk to soften and sweeten the draw. Hoses are washed and rotated regularly; glass bases are polished before they hit your table. Even the seating plays a role. Low, deep sofas slow the evening down. You settle in. You stop checking your phone quite so often.

That's not an accident either. Everything in the room is designed to make a session last ninety minutes rather than fifteen — because the best conversations don't happen in a hurry.

Pairing the Table With the Pipe

Here's where we get properly indulgent. Our kitchen turns out Middle Eastern-inspired plates — smoky mixed grills, warm mezze, falafel with the right amount of crunch — and certain pairings genuinely elevate both sides.

A citrus-heavy flavour alongside grilled lamb? Brilliant. Mint-based shisha after a rich mezze spread? It resets the palate beautifully. Our team will build you a pairing if you ask — the same way a good sommelier would, minus the intimidation and the French vocabulary.

Ask Us Anything

The biggest misconception about shisha lounges is that they're only for people who already know what they're doing. Utterly untrue. Half our favourite regulars walked in knowing nothing, asked a few questions, and found their flavour within a visit or two.

So come with curiosity. Tell us what you normally drink, whether you like sweet or sharp, and how strong you want it. We'll handle the coals. You handle the conversation.

First flame to last cloud — that's the Creed way.
